Nick Bell has been appointed Chair of Communication Design at the University of the Arts London (UAL). He is one of nine new subject area Chairs with a University-wide remit hired for their potential to make a meaningful contribution to the academic work of the University - an initiative focused on the student experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has plans to develop academic initiatives and activities aimed at creating a new range of opportunities through which students can engage both with their subjects and with cross-disciplinary enquiry. Also within his scope is: planning for curriculum development and graduate employability enhancement; contributing to research activities; identifying new opportunities for research collaborations and enterprise; and engaging with industry and the wider creative and cultural sectors. The title of Chair recognises the outstanding distinction and reputation of a person in a subject or area of interest associated with the University of the Arts London.
